Unfortunately, there is not yet much documentation for Scala that is really usable for beginners in programming. On these webpages I try to collect all the Scala documentation you need for the courses that I teach (CS109 and CS206).

Lecture notes and tutorials

• Short introduction to Scala A short introduction to Scala for students who have taken CS101 (and perhaps learnt C in highschool).
• First objects Simple classes in Scala, references and the heap, garbage collection.
• Objects and Classes Classes with methods and constructors, operator overloading.
• The CS109 Tutorials may also be helpful.

If you want to learn more seriously about object-oriented and functional programming, the following book can be downloaded through the KAIST library:

• A Beginner's Guide to Scala, Object Orientation and Functional Programming by John Hunt, Springer 2014.
